About Us
SunRun specializes in race bred registered Quarter and Paint horses.

At SunRun, we research bloodlines, breeding strategies and overall care practices to provide the speed horse market with exceptional horses for long-term enjoyment. We design training programs to provide all of our horses the opportunity to work well in and out of the arena.

We are dedicated to providing you with the horse that best suits your needs, which could mean that our horses may not be the perfect match for you. We are happy to put you in touch with others who may have the horse more suited to your goals.
SunRun Beginnings...

In 1999, an unfortunate event ended the career of one of our talented barrel horses. After a couple of years of treatment, Texas A&M Veterinarian Clinic made the determination that she would never be sound again. Eventually the accident turned into an opportunity in 2003.

Prior to owning the mare, she had successfully raced on the track posting a AAA speed index of 91 and had produced three beautiful foals.

Having been very pleased with her abilities in the arena, knowing her success on the track, and believing in her Top Moon/Jet Deck bloodlines we turned towards breeding to continue her lineage.

Our first foal, her fourth, was born in April of 2003. Needless to say, we haven't regreted our decision to begin this breeding program.

Our horses are in it for the long-haul...

You will hear the words: ‘long-term’, ‘longevity’ and ‘stamina’ mentioned throughout our program. We may not offer a horse to public until he is 6 years of age.

It is our philosophy to ready our arena horses for a long-lasting future with our clients. Short term monetary goals are not a part of our program. Our horses have not attended futurities. Many do not attain full speed until the 5th, 6th, or 7th year of life. Young horses from foal to the age of 5 are maturing physically and mentally. Speed in the arena requires a solid, sound foundation in both elements before being asked to accelerate and excel.

Certainly, if race track is your preference, then you will need a yearling for the 2 year-old training period.  When available, we do offer yearlings for the race track. You can expect the yearling to know the handling basics before going to the race trainer.
